Other examples of such structures include U.S. Breakwaters previously used for such an operation have included floating tire, submerged barges, etc., that reduce incoming wave heights to acceptable levels for landing craft. An operation in coastal waters is usually aborted when waves exceed a sea state 2 where wave heights are greater than 3 feet.
